Sawyer’s hearing loss journey began when he was a baby. He received bilateral cochlear implants, and his parents chose Listening and Spoken Language as his primary method of communication. Sawyer remembers participating in the Woolley Institute for Spoken-Language Education Preschool program as a young child. He describes the experience as a fun and positive environment where he could interact with his friends. He has fond memories of his teachers and classmates, and even recalls participating in an annual WISE Preschool performance!
Sawyer is a rising high school Freshman and enjoys many hobbies, including mountain biking. He also enjoys volunteering with the WISE Preschool program during the Summer.
