Amelia was diagnosed with profound hearing loss at the age of two. She was fitted with hearing aids in each ear and soon after received a cochlear implant in her right ear. She has attended the Woolley Institute for Spoken-Language Education (WISE), formerly known as the Alabama School for Hearing for three years. I can never express in words what this school did for Amelia. Thank you doesn’t seem enough. I hate to see this chapter of our lives end, but I know because of your guidance she is ready to move on to kindergarten. Even on the hardest days that you have with these kids, just know that you have made a huge difference in their lives and in their family’s lives. Amelia leaves this school with test scores on par with her peers. Without a doubt, Amelia would not be where she is today if it weren’t for the Woolley Institute for Spoken-Language Education (WISE). I would strongly urge anyone who is considering this program for their child to take the leap. You will not regret it.
